EDF appoints consultant for MENA power bids
EDF Group has retained Dubai-based Access Consultants to advise on bids to develop several power projects in the Middle East and North Africa.
Access Consultants is advising EDF on the 200-400 MW Salalah 2 IPP in Oman.
It is also advising EDF Energies Nouvelles on the 100 MW Noor 3 solar project as well as the tender of 850 MW of wind capacity in Morocco,SparkSpread has learned.
A request for proposals for Salalah 2 is expected imminently.
The Noor project is still at a pre-qualification stage. EDF has teamed up with Japan's Mitsui to bid for this.
Two former ACWA Power International professionals – Stephane Bontemps and Reda El Chaar – recent established Access Consultants.
It is a business development and advisory firm focused on the power and water sectors in the Middle East and Africa.
Access Consultants offers advice on the origination and development of projects; transaction advisory; and strategic advisory services.
Earlier this year, Bontemps left his job as head of power business development at Abu Dhabi National Energy Co. (TAQA), as SparkSpread first reported on March 11.
Before that, he worked for about a year as head of business development for ACWA.
El Chaar had responsibility for building ACWA's renewable business and also worked on thermal generation projects.
